Bulbophyllum Falcatum orchids need to be watered twice a week during warm weather and the water needs to be of room temperature, 20-24 degrees Celsius. The best way to water Orchids is to either submerge the orchid in water until roots are submerged overnight, they will then absorb the water.
Warm temperatures in the 60's or above year round. These do not require a winter rest. Most have very fine roots systems and appreciate regular, thorough watering. We never allow the potting media to dry completely out, but instead maintain constant moisture in the pot and high humidity in the surrounding area.
Growing Tips. They like to stay moist, and most of them like intermediate to warm temperatures. We grow ours in intermediate (winter) to hot (summer) conditions. Similarly, they grow well in intermediate light although they can tolerate low light conditions, too (you may see fewer flowers).
A shaded area with bright, indirect light is ideal for these orchids. WATERING: Bulbophyllums should be watered regularly during the growing season, but the frequency will depend on the specific species and the conditions in which they are growing.
The Sweet-Smelling Bulbophyllum blooms the earliest of the native Bulbophyllums in its range, with flowers that can last up to two weeks, and clouds of sweet fragrance that hang around for just as long. Interestingly, this orchid is typically an epiphyte in all areas except Hong Kong, where it was first discovered.
